Indian Economy & Budget 2007
Dear Sir
The UPA led by Mr M. Singh has failed miserably to control the inflation that affected the common man. You as the FM have been telling people that the inflation is seasonal, it was not so & it was there to continue. The results are seen in the elections to the Punjab & Uttaranchal election. The measures taken now should have been taken 2 months ago..Well the government has missed the golden opportunity to impress the people about its resolve to control runaway prices. Harping on 9% GDP growth is like shining India slogan of the orev. NDA government. The poor remained poor and the FM appeared to be not on their side but on the side of the bigwigs & the stock market.
Better late than never more funds alloted to the Health & Education sector is a welcome sign but it could have been done in the 50s by Mr Nehru and by this time the Indians would have been topping the world. This is the best move by the UPA govt. but it has not been publicised as it should have been. Is it because the FM does not know Hindi or he is not very expressive or is it anything else? The FM should always appear to be with poor first and the Aam Aadmi on the whole next. The Harward look does not appeal to the people nor the plethora of Malls & super Bazaars. Our old Kirana stores must not be allowed to die out.The consortium of Super Bazaars & Malls will not allow healthy competition. will hold the prices to a certain level just below the MRP, while the MRP may allow a reduction beyond 25%. It is visible even now in the price . Perhaps some regulations to control printing of MRP not exceeding 25% of the cost of production.
This trend is visible even now while we look at the prices prevalent in the super Bazaars like DMax /Subhiksha or Foodlike Bazaar with the prices prevalent with a med. size Kiraana Shop.
These are visible to the Aam Aadmi. Everyone who earns money the hardway will look for the value for his money. FM need to address these basics..Otherwise the budget is just OK though it is not like the railway budget. Mr Laloo is shrewd enough not to have mentioned security of passengers but he scored a Brownie point over the FM.
Yours Sincerely,
Vijoy K.Ambasta
