Sir,
Quotas will kill the fabric of IITs and society.
There were many SC, ST when I did my BTech (70-
75). They were as good as any of us. Then in '72
or '73 we had around 40 SC and ST students
admitted againt reservations. Most of them
failed in most subjects. IIT then changed the
carry over system to suit these boys and some
could clear inmore than five years. To be honest
these boys could not join the mainstream social
interaction unlike other SC ST boys who joined
IIT earlier when there was no reservation. I am
sure they carried the guilt of being there
though they did not deserve to be there. Most of
them could not cope up. Ironically there
weresome whose father were senior govt officers.
They had the best of schooling but could make it
to the IIT through QUOTA only.
Being an Army Officer, my children never
bothered about religion, caste etc. But now they
are agitated. They all want the SC and ST oto be
given preferencial treatment. But not by
lowering the entry level but by raising the
level of SC ST students.
Let there be special schools for bright students
selected at primary level and special coaching
for competitive exams. This lot should be joined
by others also who are economically backwards.
However, if politics has to prevail , then let
there be 12 IITs earmarked ST-1, SC-2, OBC-3,
others-6. Faculty may also be selected from the
respective interest groups.
Sir, the children are feeling divide and the
national fabric is shattered by reservations.
Earlier V P SINGH and now Arjun Sngh has harmed
INDIA more than the Britishers did in 300 years.
Children have lot of faith in you. You, Manmahan
Singh and Atalji reached the tp without
reservation. Sangama once said, the greatest day
of his life was when his daughter got in
medicine without reservation. Is he the last
INDIAN? Kindly put your foot down for INDIA. We
cannot be a developed country unless we sack
Arjun Singhs. Please donot allow politics at the
cost of our mother land.
Ido suspect that Arjun Singh may have been sold
to some foreign power to divide our national
fabric. Whole world knows what IITs are . This
is the easisiest weapon to kill it.
